bringing then to now
an indirect effect of the pandemic is that more work stayed in the studio than normally would, and we knew we had spare time before they would leave and time to spare to relook at them give them a second look to see what the difference in the thinking was then and is now and where we found enough of a distance between then and now and were able to makes changes to the painting enough of which opened up new ways of seeing the work; a few ideas were messed up and lost and overpainted to that of a fresh white gessoed panel, upon which i may well try rework the whole idea from scratch.but for the main, not that i want to do this again, we like the reworked effects just as much as we liked the original idea. not better but rather different.in that we added expressive understanding that was only somewhat hinted at in the earlier version, but that was the point of the painting then, and new is the point of the painting now.
one such idea reworked; frost displacing emphasis on autumn to a late fall morning greeting;
frost; divine lake overgrown thru autumn
