open streams: paint running twice on the same panel
no painting is safe, so to speak as long as it is here in the studio; regardless of how long after it has been finished, given another looksee we find that we can see changes we want to make / that were not possible until after the work was done. we call it Bonnarding. Bonnard used to do this all the time. for him no work was ever finished. friends would hide their works when he was coming over because over the course of any visit, he would disappear and then be found working on ‘their’ paintings of his paintings. we are not so bad. we work on them while they are still in the studio. the first 4 posted here, overnight snowfall paintings and the open stream, were all continued, worked on, reworked, however you want to say it, further worked to a level beyond before. the last 2 are entirely new works posted for the first time….
