SquareFootShow.com feb 23 -25
never too early to promote that i have 5 new works in the the upcoming online SquareFootShow.com this Feb 23 – 25, 2023.
the other day, Julia Veenstra, whose super successful show it is, had this to say on the squarefootshow, com instagram page “I have stood in front of Michael’s work, and have tried to figure out how he does it. I cannot.”
this could be a sort of preview of the works i the show. one of the possible choices anyways.
have nearly a dozen works to choose for for the February Show, and will post some here, not quite daily or anything, of the possible choices for inclusion as they come into being.
driving from the west entrance of / to the queen lizzy wildlands along a wonderfully twisting dirt road with frequent river views on one side and ponds under canopies of green on the other, you reach a rust red warren bridge spanning the black river. i walked both side of the river down the the basin which opens at the bottom of vic falls, and to me i saw more of a series of cascading boulder strewn rapids each dropping down to the next one until you are at the base of victoria falls. not really what i consider a waterfall but it is the golden sandy bottomed basin where the river opens up wide wider widest then forks into several directions. being mindful of the currants swirling about further offshore i passed on a swim being happy with just wading thru the sunwarmed waters, another time i waded along the black river as it followed the vankoughnet road off 118. ( had read there too are ‘waterfalls’ which moreso resemble waterfalls but being on private property killed any urge to check then out, i am not really that into waterfalls, it was visually satisfying enough to just walk yet another small stretch of the black river.
