In applying my own definition of what a ‘landscape’ is, I am not, per se, a landscape painter, which is not to say I haven’t painted a landscape. I abstract shape, form, rhythm, pattern, colour out of the landscape I lose myself in, and this is not the same thing as painting landscapes. Nor am I simply splitting hairs here, merely pointing out a different approach, my own unique way of seeing, of working and abstracting ideas to get at the essence therein, resulting in paintings of highly lyrical, accented aspects of the total landscape before me.
