autumn ponds in the middle of nowhere
autumn pond reflections. the magic lies inside the forests, where, come late fall, early october, the rains top up the ground water and then some, causing small depressions in the land to become instant ponds; pure individual moments in time, lasting as long as it takes to absorb the reflecting water into the ground, and reflecting it is in intimate ways that only a pond in the middle of nowhere can be.
this particular reflection catching the sun in the water , is at a place what we call trout pond; some years it is totally dried up so we look elsewhere and have occasionally been blessed to stumble upon deep forest reflections around at devils lake, margaret lake, the oxtongue river to name a few.
