Jurying the Muskoka Arts & Crafts Spring Exhibition
our job was to be magnanimous in spirit. congrats to everyone who was accepted into the exhibition. in our minds was already ahead, had already accomplished what they had set out to do; we spent all day, 7+ hours, familiarizing ourselves with the work in the hall, looking for and finding works that were worth the extra notice that an award would offer them.
a collection of notes from the days’ jurying which included some early morning 8 am sketching of the retreating snow in the rain along the mathiasville road running inches from / along the muskoka river off hwy 118 just east of hwy 11
all days are long…it is just those ones we are awake thru most of the hours that we remember..
At 7 pm, after raining all day, when we started handing out the awards it began snowing at the sportsplex in bracebridge – we could see thru the floor to ceiling windows onto the parking lot from the 3 step high stage we were on; by close to 9 when i left for the city i had to clean off 2 inches of wet snow from the truck – by the time i followed the ruts in the snow down highway 11 to severn bridge it changed to rain and did not stop – rain continued down hwy 12 – along hwy 48 – down 404 until south of eglinton on the don valley where it was bone fucking dry road….go figure …. mini weather zones….

We hope to see you over the weekend at the show. As always, there is a amazing variety of art to view and purchase!!

Micheal Zarowsky Scott and I had never met before; We clicked, found we could work together with ease, and seriously dedicated 7 1/2 hours getting familiar with the works on display while deciding which ones merited a little more attention thru an award. . it was a fun day…all nineteen hours of it……that’s my story and i am sticking to it….
