moments when things are okay with the world
got a wonderful response this morning to a couple of our works that have left home….
Good morning to you and Wendy both,
I’ve been meaning to write to you for a few days now. I would like to let you know how absolutely delighted I am (Lily too) with the paintings.
Choco Days of Winter makes me pause and look at it a while each time I come in the side door. I still find its presence a surprise and quite enjoyable.
The absolute star to me is Open Stream Explaining Dreams to Winter. This is rapidly displacing the Bermuda Plaza street-scape (that we’ve had for over 20 years now) as my favorite among your works hanging on our walls. The vibrancy of the stream seems to ripple and move. I can almost hear the water. I imagine I could almost step into the scene (shades of Alice …) , the painting seems so alive. When we first put this up and I had a chance to study it for a while I said that it evoked feelings of hope and anticipation. That remains the case.
It’s very pleasant to sit in front of this work and have these feelings each morning with all that’s wrong in the world today. The painting helps me to remember how far society has advanced since I was young even though the events of each day remind me that we still have very far to go as a society. It’s a great way to wake up each morning.
Thank you for producing such works as these and the other paintings of yours that adorn our walls.
