more works on paper
back in december had someone at the OOAK get excited by my marks which became the winter painting they were looking at. i say this cause i still not only feel their excitement at that moment, but have gone over in how i view what i always thought of as breakdown scribbles in my works, trying to see it from their point of view. i lose myself in the process and marks come naturally and i really only stop to think about it when my marks don’t work, and even then it is more focused on how did i fuck up what i saw, rather than question the whole marking process. looking at work across time periods the marks not so much evolve as seem to always be particular to the idea worked out. i say not so much evolve, because my way of visually breaking things down is always changing, so i assume the ways of expressing ever changing ideas will stay fresh as well as long as i stay aware of this…which brings me back to the start of this post. I like, and so work at my way of making my mark in this world, and it is neat when another person stops, takes the time to see what we are about, reminding us of what has become natural way of seeing / being.
the works on paper Petroff now has includes some pieces, where any visual understanding, comes from totally composed of / by breakdown ‘scribbles’
