stepping in the same stream twice…..
kinda makes me feel old or something having 2 separate people who own some of my work contact me in the same week. (see an entry added here a couple of posts back) although, in this day and age, given the connectedness of the world, the real surprise is how few who own one of our works, actually do bother to punch our name into the computer and see what comes up and re-establish contact or connect for the first time…….
so yesterday i get another FB message, this time from a chap out london way, (ontario that is) who let us know he has, and likes one of our ‘Animals as Icons’ series. tossing a disc into the machine i was able to upload just what we have on record from that particular experience, and as well as share a few of them with him, did realize, with hindsight, that we certainly stopped short in working the idea, and perhaps, just perhaps if i can get emotionally worked up / involved in it again might pick it up and explore it further, or not.
anyways, understanding that any / all FB post(s) has / have a life span of mere minutes, here is the freeform exchange as it unfolded / took shape;

Thank you for your add. I’ve been an admirer of your work for many years.
I first saw your work at a small, short-lived gallery in London, Ontario called “Artworthy’s”. The proprietor had of your pieces in his collection and it soon captivated my imagination. Because of health reasons, Wayne Woodman, the proprietor of the gallery, had to abruptly close. But I remembered that piece for a number of years afterward.
Then, one evening, Wayne came by my house and he brought along that piece that I had loved and gave it me. It’s become a treasured piece within my own art collection. Perhaps you remember the piece……painted in watercolors in 1997, it was a large painting of a white rabbit (pink ears) on a dark green background. I love it to this day.
Anyway, thank you very much for your wonderful work and…..of course, for the add.
Micheal Zarowsky How cool; i don’t know Wayne, nor had heard of his gallery so i don’t know how it came about that he should have the rabbit painting – one of several – my dad was raising them at the time – but i guess old bun bun has been hopping around from art collector to art collector……
i don’t have records of all the work i ever did – many a time the painting went out and there was no loot for film, but i did find the green bun 30″ x 22″ watercolour on arches paper.. (1997)
• Micheal Zarowsky there was also a blue bun 22″ x 30″ watercolour on arches paper lord knows where his travels have taken him to

• Ed Reliuga yep…… that’s the piece that I affectionately call “Harvey”. (the green background rabbit)
Ed Reliuga; They say that colour and form can affect one’s mood. It’s true for me. Every time I see “Harvey”, and I do mean EVERY, I feel happy. Yes, happy. The piece makes me feel good.

• Micheal Zarowsky one of our favorite movies……truly neat…not to drive you crazy or compare compete or anything but we also did an aubergine rabbit…although the green one really has something…….

• Ed Reliuga oh but you ARE driving me crazy……. I guess I’m a true collector (or perhaps I have OCD)…. but now I realize that it’s possible to have a flock (?) or (herd?) of “bunnies”.

Micheal Zarowsky methinks it stopped there with a lateral move by way of a commission from a VP at the Royal Bank, a W Bacon who wanted a portrait of a pig…obviously called…..blue pig

• Ed Reliuga except for the ears, it seems like there was quite a leap (no pun intended) from bunnies to our porcine friend here. Again…. beautiful, bold, striking work Micheal.

• Patricia Adams Spivey Love the bunny – still thinking about the piggy. The paintings are great; it is the subject matter I’m considering. The rabbit is superb.
