what we were able to do, to effect, working watercolours on paper was largely lost to me when i added a lateral move to working watercolours on gessoed panels while still also working on paper those ideas that need be on paper. I say ‘we’ because Wendy works with me up to the point where the paint starts to fly, all the while the paint is flying and afterwards when we lay back to critique where to further take it if anywhere. been a few years of breaking everything down to come to understand what and how i see and Wendy sees and how i want to express what i see and how her ideas fit in. each idea only reaches across other ideas just so far, at and from which point the fun begins to work out anew how to express what i / we am / are seeing.
Over the last few months of working out what i like about water, a quick look back at the work saved and I ‘have a slow oozing gelling of understanding coming to consciousness, of a continuity to my way ‘for now’ of expressing water on panel both in the overall compositions and visual breakdown.
