sunlight reflecting
most of my water paintings, by not so much eliminating as just not including looking that far down to where the horizon is, to me, carry an ambiguity of possibilities of how they can be seen / read / as a wetland reflection and or as a colour pattern of lines approaching abstraction. not that i am pursuing that direction in itself.
posting the the 2nd image first , a close up, (looking past that the blue colour is all wrong here) does ‘show’ the final of 4 layers of built up crackling all thru the descending reflection.
working on a thin layer of absorbent ground over layers of gesso / spraying it with a fixative / varnishing it once dry / laying in another coat of blue ‘pond water’ which dried to a 2nd layer of further crackling / repeating the layering of blues till i felt the richness i wanted and varnished it for the final time.
