different ends of coming and going / winter is only ‘to be found’ here at the studio at the moment / everything green and overgrown while working towards the exhibitions we have coming up.

a sun shining 30 below everything frozen in colour and the streams are running, are open contradicting reality. you can smell how cold the water is as alive as the sun travels across the day. In working the Canadian landscape we have found that it really has nothing to do with how far north one goes, rather with being able to see n feel ‘the wild’ of the place one is in at any given moment. i might well add it also has nothing to do with the season one finds oneself in.

several rivers stay open most winters in the washago area, which as mentioned before i find snow covered when areas around are not, so coming upon open water on -30 sun filled days during the january and february full moon phases, is as eagerly anticipated here as say, the spring tapping trees for their sap for making maple syrup.
