got a number of positive comments about the IWS post so reposting the whole thing with comments;
after a weekend walk thru the fire that is a studio tour, got a refreshingly exciting email this morning from Ona Kingdom letting me know my venice painting itself made it thru the
fire that is the jurying process…..
Dear Micheal,
Congratulations!
We are pleased to inform you that from 320 paintings submitted from 32 countries worldwide, our Jurors, Anne McCartney CSPWC, AWS, TWSA; Peter Marsh CSPWC, OSA, SCA, TWS; and Rainbow Tse have selected the painting on the labels below as a finalist for the IWS Canada & CSPWC/SCPA’s “A Symphony in Watercolour” Exhibition.
All the details you will need to participate in this exhibition; show dates, dates for shipping, framing instructions etc are in the attached Exhibitor Forms which you will need to complete and EMAIL back to us before June 1st, 2018.
We hope you will be able to attend all, or some of the IWS Canada’s and CSPWC/SCPA’s 5 day opening celebrations for “A Symphony in Watercolour” to recognize your accomplishment.
Our Opening Day event begins at noon on September 28th at Boynton House (1300 Elgin Mills Road E., Richmond Hill) with ribbon cutting, viewing of the exhibition, demonstrations by watercolour supply representatives, and the Awards Presentation at 3pm. Come mingle and network with other artists and guests. All are welcome, so please include your family and friends! Enjoy refreshments and live music by the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra.
An information package for visiting artists detailing further events in the week which include various tours in the Toronto region, painting demonstrations and opportunities, presentations, gallery visits, and a dinner in the CN Tower is also attached. Accommodation and transportation options are also listed in this document.

Theresa Loomis The hardest part I should think is to completely block out anyone else’s ideas of merit and just ultimately please yourself. I have to do that designing my stuff and just have faith that if I like what I’ve made, someone else is bound to. I’ve never been a judge but that’s probably good because I’m really picky.
