we fed raised 75+ generations of cardinals from our balcony before neighbours complained and we had to stop. this was several years ago. didn’t like it but moved on. ever since i have on occasion felt the urge / need / desire to include a cardinal to one of my paintings. a week ago a client friend in scarboro shared her balcony cardinals with Wendy and I,  another good client recently asked if there were any available cardinals lying around and this set free this years splurge urge about cardinals so i lost myself painting my red suited friend with his olive beige sidekick into a large landscape the better to show their size, finished late monday after working all weekend on a pair of wintering cardinals in a pair of wintering cardinal paintings.
